Orange Crush

Orange is one of those colors that can be used in a variety of shades in every season. Its shades vary from peach, mango, rust, and numerous shades in between. Orange can be paired with blue, green, brown, pink, etc. Check out these pics to be instantly inspired if you have an orange crush!

A Mellow Yellow Wedding!

Yellow is best paired with neutral colors like black, white, and gray.  Studies have shown that people normally associate the color yellow with happiness and vibrancy! What better way to celebrate one of the happiest days of your life than to make yellow a part of it!

Polka-Dot Palooza!

Another patterned trend of 2011 is Polka Dots! Yes, I said polka dots! I absolutely LOVE this trend because it can be used for a variety of event themes.  Bridal showers, kid’s parties, baby showers, and even weddings can incorporate the polka dot theme! I have to honestly admit that I was a bit skeptical when one of my friends said she wanted a polka-dot themed wedding! That is, until I started exploring the different ways polka-dots can be used to incorporate a classic, stylish theme with a modern flair!

Bronze Goddess

Although this is normally used in a fall wedding color scheme, we realize that most brides start looking for inspiration early, so here goes! Brown can be used in a color scheme in a variety of colors from bronze to oatmeal, to taupe.  This list goes on and on. It can be used for an earthy wedding decor theme or in addition to other jewel tones, i.e. patina.  I hope you enjoy, and as always, Be Inspired!

It's beginning to look a lot like....SPRING!

Today's the first official day of Spring, one of my favorite seasons.  I love everything about it-- the warm weather, the flowers blooming, the cookouts, and the weddings! Yep, it's officially wedding season too! Here in Louisiana, the busiest wedding months are March and October because the months in between usually have unpredictable rain patterns.  This is also the time of year that the most beautiful color palettes are used in event planning and design.  For warm color palette inspiration, see my previous post regarding the Michelle Mospens and Pantone color trends for Spring/Summer! Until next time...

Nautical Baby Shower Ideas

Ahoy, matey!! Check out these adorable nautical baby shower inspiration boards! Nautical themes traditionally incorporate navy and white with hints of red, but these days people are jazzing it up! Try using pool blue & red, or the traditional navy and white with accents of red or yellow. This theme is effortlessly classic, but trendy at the same time. It's baby chic at its best!

Trend Alert: Peacock Pizzazz!

Peacock décor is one of the HOTTEST trends for the 2011 wedding season. The wonderful thing about the peacock feather is its versatility. You can look at it a million times and see a different color scheme with each look! For spring and summer events, pair the peacock look with tiffany blue, lavender, or lime. For fall/winter events, flip the script and pair it with teal, royal blue, or violet. It also looks wonderful paired with various shades of green and bronze colors.

Here are some of my favorite online vendors in case you want to try this theme yourself:

Pantone announces its 2011 Color of the Year!

Pantone, the fashion and design industry’s gold standard of color palettes, has announced their 2011 Color of the Year. And the winner is (drumroll please)….. Honeysuckle! This color is a beautiful pink with hints of red and fuschia undertones. This color would look stunning paired with shades of green, gray, or classic black and white. It would also look great with gold and cream shades. I look forward to seeing this color incorporated in everything from weddings to baby showers to bridal brunches! Happy Planning!
