Seeing Red!

One of my best friends is getting married, and her favorite color is red. She's asked us to help her come up with ideas incorporating the color, and of course we've found a million different palettes and ideas! Take a look at these great inspiration boards.

Inexpensive Decorating Ideas

Event decor need not be expensive to be beautiful.  All it takes is a little innovation and the right event planning team (ahem, Chez Soiree).  :)  Anyway, there are three things that can add a little pizzazz and spice to your event without spending a great deal-- candles, balloons (yes, balloons), and paper lanterns.  Candles are a great way to set the perfect ambiance for your event. Candleholders can be purchased inexpensively from places like Dollar General and Dollar Tree.

Balloons, once simply seen as kiddie decor, has recently seen a reprisal as a new, fun trend for weddings, and other adult events. Balloons are also a great way to fill up space. The balloons used in the pic below are the new 36 inch balloons.

Martha Stewart, the all-knowing guru of all things domestic/events/decor, introduced the world to these adorable tissue poms/lanterns.  They're made of the tissue paper used to wrap gifts.  You can make them yourself (stay tuned for the tutorial) or you can purchase the pom kits from Martha Stewart herself, or from my favorite place, Etsy.

Ok, guys, I stumbled across this picture of these wonderful moss covered monogrammed letters hanging outside on the church doors.  What better way to greet your guests and personalize every detail simultaneously? Here's the original picture that inspired this post:

I thought this would be wonderful for a simplistic green wedding theme, dinner party, or for a cute garden bridal shower. I became obsessed with wondering how to do it, and can't wait to try it out myself on a future event. After searching, I finally found a great tutorial, so I figured, why not post this for our fabulous viewers? Find out how to make these wonderful letters HERE. Not sure if you're ready to delve into the world of DIY? Find it in an Etsy shop HERE. Until next time, happy planning!

Go Green!

Happy Memorial Day weekend, guys! Since it's officially wedding season, we're going to start presenting you guys with different color schemes that can be used for weddings and bridal showers alike. Some of these themes can even be used for baby showers and other events, as well. Today, we're going to inspire you with the color green. So much can be done with this color! It can be paired with earth tones, jewel tones, etc. and comes in a variety of shades! Our favorite pairing is using a variation of green, called celadon, with ivory and metallic gold. Be inspired!

DIY Files: Cake Bunting

Bunting/banners are a really big trend being used in parties this year. I've seen them used as cake toppers, centerpieces, table signs, etc.  The possibilities are endless! I've seen them sell anywhere from $12 for the mini bunting kits to $25 for the ones used for tables and  banners. Kiki LaRue (on Etsy) is the undisputed queen of cake bunting.  Here's some of her work.

As I was perusing the net today, I stumbled upon the cutest picture on http://www.thecelebrationshoppe.com/ that used mini bunting for a cupcake display.  My creative juices got flowing, and I decided to try and make one myself.  Here's the pic I drew inspiration from:

So I gathered some supplies I had lying around the house, and got to work! I used scissors, cardstock in various colors, a glue stick and striped baker's twine I purchased here.
I then drew small diamond shapes on the cardstock and cut them out (I'm not the best artist! LOL!)

After cutting out the diamonds, I folded the diamonds in half vertically over the twine.  Here's the end result.

Easy, right? Until next time, Happy Planning!

DIY Files: Bakerella's Cake Pops

I'm a huge fan of DIY projects, & I've been wanting to try my hand at making Bakerella's cake pops. You can find her recipe here:

They turned out pretty good. Of course, they weren't as pretty as hers, but I used chocolate sprinkles to cover up the imperfections. :)  I also used Wilton's premium candy making chocolate (light cocoa) from Michael's. Instead of putting them on wax paper after dipping, I used a styrofoam block (covered in foil)  to sit the pops in so they'd dry upright and the excess chocolate would fall on the block. I chilled them in the fridge while still in the styrofoam block, & wrapped them in lollipop bags. I think these would make adorable party/wedding favors! Check 'em out!

It's Been A While...

...since I've posted anything. I'm SO sorry, but we've been preparing for 2 upcoming events that we're both planning AND designing!  Stay tuned to see the decor we used and a vendor listing of where we found the items.  Pics coming soon! Until next time...
